Greg had hunted all over the United States and Africa and the one thing missing was a blackbuck. So he traveled from Mississippi to the Wild Rocking P in Mills County Texas for a 3-day stalking adventure. He brought along his new Bergera B-14 heavy barrel chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor, loaded with his own custom ammunition. Before the hunt, we checked zero at the range, 100-meters, striking a 6-inch steel plate, he confidently struck the center. We spent that afternoon scouting. The next day, we spent the entire day stalking, coming close a couple of times, but not quite close enough during a 5-mile hike. The following day, Greg found his blackbuck closer in to the ranch, early in the morning. Greg is a patient and skilled hunter, preferring a ground hunt, stalking to sitting in a blind. He brought his own classic Case skinner knife to dress out his harvest, carefully separating and preserving the hide to make a vest for his wife. The European mount turned out incredible. Greg is a member of the Safari Club International, his harvest measured 52 and 6/8 inches putting it solidly into the SCI trophy class.
In his review of the ranch Greg said, "From my arrival handshake to my departure handshake, I felt nothing but true Texas hospitality at the Wild Rocking P Ranch...The Wild Rocking P Ranch is a very reputable, professional operation. I would not hesitate to hunt this venue again." You can read all of his review and see pictures on Google Maps.
